Our client is a shared services organisation that supports a diverse portfolio of family-owned businesses across New Zealand and Australia. From property and homewares to building services and fire protection, their companies operate in industries that make a real impact on people’s everyday lives.


We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Senior Accountant to support our their growing finance team. This role is critical in providing administrative and accounting support to ensure smooth financial operations while freeing up the Head of Finance and leadership team to focus on strategic initiatives. Responsibilities

Where You’ll Make an Impact?

Finance & Accounting Assistance

  • Provide day-to-day accounting and administrative support to the Head of Finance
  • Assist with monthly management reports, including analysis and commentary
  • Support offshore team with supplier invoice processing and reconciliations
  • Maintain and monitor the fixed asset register
  • Assist with journal entries to ensure financial record accuracy
  • Prepare and journal weekly payroll

Month-End & Year-End Support

  • Assist offshore team in month-end and year-end close processes
  • Prepare supporting reconciliations and documentation
  • Assist in producing management accounts for the leadership team

Reporting & Analysis

  • Help prepare clear, concise, and meaningful financial reports to support decision-making

Administrative Support

  • Manage the finance inbox and respond to queries in a timely manner
  • Handle supplier setup and process local invoice payments
  • Process sales reimbursements and company expense claims
  • Maintain vehicle compliance requirements (Rego, WOF, RUC)
  • Update daily cashbooks to ensure accurate cash flow records

Ad Hoc Support

  • Provide additional assistance on finance projects and other administrative tasks as required

Requirements

What It Takes to Succeed?

  • Must have 5+ years of solid accounting experience, including a deep understanding of business and multi-entity accounting
  • Proven ability to communicate effectively with senior leadership, work across multiple entities, and engage with diverse nationalities
  • Comfortable operating in a global environment, including working with different currencies and time zones
  • Exceptional English communication skills (both written and verbal); prior global exposure is highly valued
  • Team management and leadership experience is an advantage
  • Familiarity with NetSuite is ideal
  • Proficiency in payroll processing and awareness of current AI/automation trends in finance and accounting
  • Strong attention to detail, problem-solving mindset, and organizational skills
  • Ability to thrive both independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, professional environment
  • A Valid CPA license is a plus!
